Hex 1232 - The attack on the Russian Right and Center

Attack on center by 1st battalion

The Germans hold onto the trenches. Russians finally fall back after a tenacious hold of the hill. Pounding of Hill 19 by the rail howitzers and planes and artillery and direct assault unhinge Russian hold on hill.

With the Russian falling away from the mines and trenches the Engineers advance to clear way for attack on right.



Germans finally swept the Hill of any Russian enemy. This signaled the change of attack from the right to the German left.

The axis air attack slips to the right. Air attack on the tanks on Hill 6 to far right pin down Russian forces there.

After the air attack the German advance to ridge

The German regroup in the woods and begin advancing to center and to the ridge. The pressure is off Germans on right so the regroup and swing to the center. The Germans pass the mines and capture the first woods and contiue you on to flank the Russians.

The Germans capture the ridge and set up for attack on the anti-tank team in woods and infantry in far woods.

The game ended here with the Russian making an orderly retreat from the field. German attack missed on taing out several more Russian tanks. In threatening the flank the Russian thought better in falling back and not risking a full scale rout. It was a fun battle. Lots of manuevering of both sides. Lots of different obstacles to overcome by the Germans. The combination of air, artillery and assault finally broke the center. The planes totally wrecked the Russian holding the woods close to the mines. German maneverability and Engineer battalion were able to capitalize and cleared the path to advancing to the  left side of the battle field. Well played game on both sides. Germans are getting closer to Leningrad.
